Adin Ross Loses $100K Bet After Controversial UFC Referee Reversal
Ross began celebrating, believing his bet had cashed in. However, after Magny insisted he was still conscious, the referee reversed the decision and allowed the bout to continue Popular gambling streamer Adin Rosswas left shocked after the UFC fighter he bet $100,000on seemed to secure a first-round victory, only for the referee to reverse the call and allow the fight to continue. Adin Ross watched with excitement as Jake Matthews locked Neil Magnyin a guillotine choke during UFC Fight Night 260 on Saturday. The popular streamer had nearly $100,000 wagered on the Australian fighter to win in Perth, as part of multiple parlays placed through the Rainbet crypto casino and sportsbook. Referee Jim Perdios initially stopped the fight just one second before the end of the first round, thinking Magny had lost consciousness. Ross began celebrating, believing his bet had cashed in. However, after Magny insisted he was still conscious, the referee reversed the decision and allowed the bout to continue. In a dramatic turn, Magny went on to defeat Matthews in the third round via D’Arce choke. Matthews’ team was unhappy with the outcome and immediately decided to appeal the ruling to the Western Australia Combat Commission. Meanwhile, Ross voiced his frustration on social media, noting how difficult it is for a fighter to “switch back on after a referee’s call.” UFC executive Dave Shawacknowledged the controversy during the post-fight press conference, admitting the referee’s decision was questionable and stating, “there seemed to be a misngake.” Being the popular gaming and gambling streamer that he is, Ross is keenly aware of the financial risks that this entails. The 31-year-old content creator has, in the past, also had similar financial flops, which come with the job at hand. At the end of the day, Ross isn’t the only one controlling the outcome of a game or match, and sometimes judges or other staff may interfere. For example, a couple of months ago, Ross lost $10,000 due to a dealer error. It was just a simple misngake in the game, not accounting for Ross’s Ace, causing his hand to get cancelled, which resulted in the streamer losing a $10K wager. Ross’ latest betting troubles, however, come after he had some troubles with Kick, the platform he’s streaming on. He has an exclusive partnership with it, so when rumors started circulating that he would be moving to Rainbet, Kick banned him from its platform. While Kick lifted Ross’ ban last week, not long after the rumors were confirmed, their reputation as an impartial streaming platform that allows its users and creators a lot of freedom has been marred, according to many fans.
